BlockChain might be the most significant innovation over the last 20 years in the Financial Industry. However, understanding what it is and how it differs from existing transaction systems is often quite confusing. Add in the concept of BitCoin, and many folks get lost in the myriad of details and concepts. Today, I am having a little fun and using a Reddit concept called Explain It Like I Am 5. This was by far the most difficult post to produce, as simplifying BlockChain is no easy task! BTW, if you have further questions, feel free to post them in the comments and I will respond.
Bitcoin and Blockchain will have substantial impact on the Financial Industry. But to truly understand their potential, we must first understand how they got here. This is the first of 4 part series titled "A Brief History of Virtual Currencies." Part 2 will be on the Blockchain and how it works. What is the most significant innovation in the last 20 years? That would be CRISPR-Cas9, a technology that has the potential to change everything from our economy, to healthcare, even what we eat for dinner. Is it going to change banking? Not likely, but you should know what it is and its impact because it is more significant than any other technology since the first computer.
Machine Learning. Maybe the most powerful innovation of our time, yet often the most mis-understood. Many people think of Data Mining, yet Machine Learning is a lot more, and its going to radically alter the banking landscape.
